One person makes this.
Grafter turns a plain description of a business into a working website. It is built, paid for and written by one person — the software, the support pages, and every guide in the library.
Written and built by Hayden Huthman. Builds and writes Grafter.
Who is writing
The guides carry a byline because one person wrote them. That matters most on the pages where a number appears: what a website costs, what a trade should charge, what a platform does with your work if you decide to leave. Those are judgements rather than facts, and you are entitled to know whose judgement you are reading.
It also means there is one person to tell when a page is wrong, and no queue in front of them. If a figure is out of date, or a guide is missing the thing you actually needed, write in and it gets fixed rather than logged.
What it will not do
The how it works page sets these out in full. They are worth repeating here because they are the part most website builders leave out of the sales pitch.
It does not invent your details
Not your phone number, your address, your registration numbers, your insurance, or how long you have been trading. Where it has no real value it leaves a plainly marked gap and says what it needs from you. A made-up registration number on a live site is a trading standards problem rather than a typo, which is why that rule is absolute rather than a preference.
It does not know your prices
Give it your numbers and it uses them exactly as written. Leave them out and it writes figures that look sensible for the trade, which is not the same as sensible for you. Read every price on the page before anybody else does.
The guides are written, not generated
Every page in the library was written and checked by hand, which is why each one carries a name and a date. Some of them tell you not to bother with something this product sells. That is the point of writing them rather than ordering them.
How it is paid for
You pay for the product and nothing else. There are no adverts on the sites it builds, nothing is sold on, and your writing and your photographs are not used to sell anything to anybody else.
Your first complete build is free. What comes after it is on the pricing page, which is the only page here that quotes a figure — so that a number can never be right in one place and quietly stale in another.
Reaching a person
The contact page writes straight into the same dashboard everything else does. There is no mail provider in between to bounce it, and no reply time promised that nobody has committed to.
